BUG #: 389 (SQL Hotfix)
Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.

SUMMARY

This article describes the following about this hotfix release:
  • The issues that are fixed by the hotfix package
  • The prerequisites for installing the hotfix package
  • Whether you must restart the computer after you install the hotfix package
  • Whether the hotfix package is replaced by any other hotfix package

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. In Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services, you run a Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) query. This MDX query uses the NON EMPTY keyword to remove empty members from one axis of a query or from more than one axis of a query. In this scenario, the query is unsuccessful, and you receive one of the following error messages:

Error message 1

Errors in the OLAP storage engine: Either you do not have permission to access the specified member, or the specified member does not exist.

Error message 2

Internal error: An unexpected exception occurred.
Additionally, Analysis Services closes unexpectedly. You experience this problem if one or more of the dimensions in the OLAP cube that you query contain placeholder members.
