The Wireless Optical Desktop 2.0 device may stop responding after a computer comes out of standby (914975)

SYMPTOMSAfter a computer comes out of standby, the Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 2.0 device may stop responding. Additionally, you may experience one of the following symptoms: - You may not see a keyboard driver for the keyboard properties in Device Manager.
- When you use the keyboard or the mouse, the keyboard and the mouse freeze after you try to use the devices in the previous state.
- You must restart the computer two times before the keyboard controls returns.
CAUSEThis problem may occur if the Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby option for the keyboard and the mouse is not enabled.RESOLUTIONTo work around this problem, enable the Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby option for the keyboard and the mouse device. To do this, follow these steps: - Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl in Open box, and then click OK.
- On the System Properties page, click Hardware, and then click Device Manager.
- In the Device Manager window, expand Keyboards, right-click the keyboard that is listed, and then click Properties.
- On the keyboard Properties page, click the Power Management tab, click to select the Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby check box, and then click OK.
- In the Device Manager window, expand Mice and other pointing devices, right-click the mouse that is listed, and then click Properties.
- On the Mouse Properties page, click the Power Management tab, click to select the Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby check box, and then click OK.
