Transactions are automatically marked as reconciled when you download a statement in Money (914973)

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, turn off the Automatically mark accepted transactions as reconciled option in Money.

Microsoft Money 2006 and Microsoft Money 2005

To resolve this issue in Money 2006 and Money 2005, follow these steps:

Start Money.
On the Tools menu, click Settings.
Click Online Services.
Click to clear the Automatically mark accepted transactions as reconciled check box, and then click OK.

Microsoft Money 2004

To resolve this issue in Money 2004, follow these steps:

Start Money 2004.
On the Tools menu, click Options.
On the Online Services tab, click to clear the Automatically mark accepted transactions as reconciled check box, and then click OK.

Microsoft Money 2003

To resolve this issue and turn off the automated balancing feature in Money 2003, follow these steps:

Start Money 2003.
On the Tools menu, click Options.
On the Online Services tab, click to clear the Automatically mark accepted transactions as reconciled check box, and then click OK.
Click Account List, and then click the account where you want to disable automated balancing.
Click Perform automated balancing.
Click to select the Don't show me this again check box, and then click No.
Click Perform automated balancing.
Click to select the Disable Automated Balancing check box, and then click Yes to mark downloaded transactions as reconciled. Or, click No to mark downloaded transactions as not reconciled.

You should not turn on the Automatically mark accepted transactions as reconciled option if you use an electronic or a paper statement to balance your bank account. When a transaction is marked as reconciled, the starting balance for the account changes. This makes it very difficult to balance your bank account in Money.
