INTRODUCTION

In Microsoft Money, connectivity to financial institutions is provided in the following ways:
  • Web statements
  • Direct services that are provided by Open Financial Exchange (OFX) statements from the financial institution
  • By a third-party provider such as Yodlee or CashEdge
This article describes how to determine whether your financial institution uses direct services or a third-party to provide connectivity.

MORE INFORMATION

To determine the online connectivity options that your financial institution offers, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Before you set up Money

To determine whether your financial institution uses Web statements, direct services, or a third-party to provide connectivity before you set up Money, follow these steps:
  1. Visit the following Microsoft Web site:
  2. Click the financial institution that you want to check for services.
  3. Verify the information that appears on the Financial Institution Details page. If the information includes a statement that is similar to the following, the financial institution uses Yodlee or CashEdge to provide connectivity:

    * This service is provided by a third-party provider, not by your financial institution. It is only available if you are using Microsoft Money 2005 or a later version. You will have to use the Microsoft Passport Network to access your account information.
Note The information that appears on the Financial Institution Details page only mentions the services that the financial institution offers at no cost. The financial institution may provide direct services or additional services for a fee. For a complete description of the services that are offered by a financial institution, contact the financial institution.

Method 2: After you set up Money

To determine whether your financial institution uses direct services or a third-party to provide connectivity after you set up online services in Money, follow these steps:
  1. Start Money.
  2. On the Tools menu, point to Internet Updates, and then click Update Now.
  3. Click to select the check box for the account that you want to check for services.
If a Password Network box appears that contains an encrypted password, the account uses OFX statements that are provided by the financial institution.
