A recurring meeting is not updated on an attendee's calendar in Exchange Server 2003 SP2 when you use a third-party WebDAV program to update the recurring meeting request (914843)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2
SYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario. You use a third-party Web-based Distribution and Authoring Versioning (WebDAV) program to update a recurring meeting request. The attendee's mailbox is located on a server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2). The attendee accepts the update in Microsoft Outlook. In this scenario, the recurring meeting is not updated on the attendee's calendar.
Note If another attendee's mailbox is located on a server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1), the recurring meeting is updated on this attendee's calendar in this scenario. CAUSEThis issue occurs if the WebDAV program does not correctly update the value of the DTSTAMP property of the message item. However, this issue does not occur in Exchange Server 2003 SP1 if the hotfix that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article has been installed on the Exchange Server 2003 SP1 server: 908927 A delegate sees a "This request is out-of-date" message in Outlook when the delegate views a meeting request that you accepted by using Outlook Web Access in Exchange Server 2003
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, configure the WebDAV program to update the value of the DTSTAMP property of the message item so that the updated DTSTAMP property has a later time value than the DTSTAMP property of the original message item. MORE INFORMATION If the mailbox server is running Exchange Server 2003 SP1 and the KB908927 hotfix, the hotfix updates the value of the DTSTAMP property of the message item. The KB908927 hotfix was created to resolve an issue in which a WebDAV program updates message item properties without updating the value of the DTSTAMP property of the message item. This hotfix adds an extra second to the value of the DTSTAMP property of the message item when it converts the message from MAPI to MIME. Therefore, the DTSTAMP property has a later time value than the DTSTAMP property of the original message item.
Note The KB908927 hotfix is not included in Exchange Server 2003 SP2.
