SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You create a new task in the Task Manager tool in Groove Virtual Office or in the Project Manager tool in Groove Workspace. You click the No earlier than option under Start date, and then you click the calendar icon to enter a start date. Then, you click OK to close the calendar. When you try to save the task, you may receive an error message about the start date. You expect to receive an error message about an incorrect start date when you close the calendar.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the start date is not fully validated until you save the task when you use the calendar to enter a start date.

MORE INFORMATION

When you close the calendar, Groove reviews the start date that you selected to make sure that the start date is not earlier than the present date. If you selected a start date that is earlier than the present date, you receive the following error message:
Task start date must be later than project start date
However, Groove reviews the start date for any other conflicts when you save the task. For example, if you select a weekend date that is after the project start date, you do not receive an error message when you close the calendar. However, when you try to save the task, you receive the following error message:
The start date is not a work day and has been changed to day, date
If you use the New Task wizard to create a task, all validation checks are performed when you close the calendar.
