This article describes how workspace updates are maintained in Groove Virtual Office and Groove Workspace when a member is offline.

Each member of a Groove workspace has a log file of all the changes that have been made to a workspace that still must be distributed to workspace endpoints. For example, a single member on three computers accounts for three workspace endpoints. These log files help Groove keep data synchronized. The size of a particular log file depends on the following:
  • What changes have been made to the workspace
  • How many members belong to the workspace
  • How many computers the workspace members use
  • How frequently workspace members run Groove when they are online so that they can receive everyone's changes
When an active manager's synchronization file has changes that are more than three weeks old, the manager will see a synchronization alert. The manager is given the option to delete the synchronization file. Additional computers for a single member that do not connect to receive updates are automatically deleted. If a manager decides to delete the synchronization data, the member is suspended. Therefore, the member must be reinvited to the workspace to resume receiving updates.

In Groove Virtual Office 3.0f and in later versions of Groove, synchronization alerts occur only for workspaces that are larger than 100 megabytes (MB). In earlier versions of Groove, synchronization alerts occur for workspaces of any size.
