INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to find other people's contact information in Grove Virtual Office and in Groove Workspace.

MORE INFORMATION

Before you can use Groove with other people, either you must find them, or they must find you. When you find people in Groove, you obtain their Groove contact information so that you can initiate Groove activities, such as sending messages and invitations to workspaces. The best methods that you can use to find Groove contact information are as follows:
  • Use traditional e-mail.
  • Search the public Groove directory.
  • Search your organization's private directory.

How to use e-mail to obtain contact information

Other Groove users can send their contact information to you by attaching it to an e-mail message. When you receive the message, double-click the attached file to add the contact to your Groove contacts list and to send a Groove instant message to the sender. This will both confirm that you received the information and provide your Groove contact information to the sender. When you receive an instant message, you can click From to display a Contact window that provides an option to add the contact.

How to search for contacts

The Groove Web site contains a directory of all Groove accounts that have opted to list their identity information. To search the groove.net directory for contacts, either use your contacts list or select the recipients for an instant message or an invitation.

How to search for contacts from your contacts list in Groove Virtual Office

  1. Open the Groove Launchbar, and then click the Contacts tab.
  2. Click Add Contact, and then click a directory in the In list. For example, click Groove.net Directory.
  3. Type your search criteria in the Find User box. You can sort the search results in any of the columns that are displayed. For example, you can sort by Full Name or by Personal Email. To see the full identity information for a search result, click it, and then click Properties.
  4. If the search results contain the contact name that you want, click the name, and then click OK. Besides seeing the new contact in your contacts list, you should also see the contact when you initiate new Groove activities, such as when you send an instant message or when you invite people to a workspace.
