INTRODUCTION

This article describes the function of the GrooveHosts.xml file.

MORE INFORMATION

The GrooveHosts.xml file contains host-name-to-IP address mappings for all groove.net hosted servers with which Groove may communicate. The file includes all the relay servers, the Groove Customer Service Manager (CSM) server, components servers, and other servers. To view this file, visit the following Groove Networks Web site: Groove's transport will use the GrooveHosts.xml file for supplemental name resolution if one of the following conditions is true:
  • A Domain Name System (DNS) lookup for host name.groove.net fails
  • A groove.net relay server responds to the Groove client with the following error message:
    WrongDevice
The latter condition indicates that the client DNS cache is out of date. Alternatively, it may indicate that the relay server is misconfigured. As soon as the GrooveHosts.xml file is fetched, Groove treats the name mappings in that file as authoritative.
