WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, disable the touchpad. This lets you use the mouse without experiencing the symptom that is described in the "Symptoms" section.

If you can still move through Microsoft Windows XP with the random movement of the mouse pointer, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Printers and other Hardware, and then click Mouse.
3. In the Mouse Properties dialog box, click the Device Settings tab.
4. Under Devices, select your touchpad, click Disable, and then click OK.

Use the keyboard

If the random movement of the mouse pointer makes it difficult to move through Windows XP, follow these steps:

1. Press the Windows logo key on the keyboard. Typically, this key is located on the bottom row of the keyboard, several spaces to each side of the space bar.
2. Use the arrow keys to highlight Control Panel, and then press ENTER.
3. Use the TAB key to highlight Printers and other Hardware, and then press ENTER.
4. Use the TAB key to highlight Mouse, and then press ENTER.
5. Use the arrow keys to locate the Device Settings tab in the Mouse Properties dialog box.
6. Use the TAB key to highlight the touchpad under Devices, and then use the right-arrow key to select it if it is not selected.
7. Use the TAB key to highlight Disable, and then press ENTER.
