This article describes how to select a civilization in Microsoft Age of Empires III.

In Age of Empires III, you can build your empire from a list of civilizations. You can select from the following list of civilizations:
  • Spanish
  • British
  • French
  • Portuguese
  • Dutch
  • Russian
  • German
  • Ottoman
To select a civilization, follow these steps:
  1. On the main menu of the game, click Single Player, and then click Skirmish. You see the Home Cities options screen.
  2. Click Manage Home Cities.
  3. Click Create a new Home City.
  4. Click the flag icon under the Civilization option.
  5. Click the civilization that you want, and then click OK.
  6. Click Create, and then click Play.
