Error message that is similar to the following when a volume is dismounted on a Windows Server 2003-based computer: "STOP 0x0000003B SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION" (914215)

SYMPTOMS

When a volume is dismounted on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
STOP 0x0000003B SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the device object that is associated with the volume is not deleted when the volume is dismounted. This prevents the reference counter from decrementing to zero. Eventually, this causes an error message that is similar to the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section. .
