INTRODUCTION

This article describes the behavior that may occur when you select a detected URL in a Rich Text field in a Groove Virtual Office tool and then associate the URL, as a hyperlink, with another URL.

MORE INFORMATION

If you select a detected URL in a Rich Text field in any one of the Groove tools and then associate the URL, as a hyperlink, with another URL, the detected URL takes precedence. If you modify the text so that it is no longer detected as a URL, the associated hyperlink address takes precedence.

For example, you have www.groove.net in the discussion text. Then, you assign the text a hyperlink address of www.wingtiptoys.com. However, when you click the text, you will still connect to www.groove.net. If you then change the text to ww.groove.net, that text is not detected as a URL. Therefore, when you click the text, you will connect to www.wingtiptoys.com. However, it is more helpful to change the text to something that is related to the associated URL. For example, change the text to Wingtip Toys.

When you move the pointer over the text, the ToolTip will display the URL that Groove will use.
