You receive an error message after you upgrade to Groove Virtual Office 3.x (913593)

SYMPTOMS

You upgrade to Groove Virtual Office 3.x from an earlier version of Groove. When you try to start Groove after the upgrade, you receive the following error message:
The procedure entry point ?SetThreadName@@YGXPBGK@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library GrooveUtil.DLL

CAUSE

If Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services is running when you try to upgrade Groove, critical files are locked during the upgrade process. Therefore, you will receive the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section when you try to start Groove.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Exit Groove and any applications that use Windows SharePoint Services.
  2. Reinstall Groove.
  3. After Groove is successfully installed, you may restart Windows SharePoint Services.
