FIX: A Windows CE 5.0-based device does not start as expected when the TFAT file system becomes corrupted (913467)

SYMPTOMS

The transaction-safe file allocation table (TFAT) file system becomes corrupted on a Microsoft Windows CE 5.0-based device. Therefore, the device does not start as expected.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if the following conditions are true:
  • Multiple threads write files to a folder at the same time.
  • The folder is located on a volume that is formatted with the TFAT file system.

Prerequisites

This software update is supported only if all previously issued software updates for this product have also been applied.

Restart requirement

After you apply this software update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To clean the platform, click Clean on the Build menu. To build the platform, click Build Platform on the Build menu. You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.
