Text in an EMF+ or an EMF+ dual format drawing may be truncated when the text is printed in an Office 2003 program (913449)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Excel 2003
- Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003
- Microsoft Office Word 2003
SYMPTOMSYou print an Enhanced Metafile (EMF+) format or an EMF+ dual format drawing from a custom program to a PostScript printer in one of the Microsoft Office 2003 programs that are listed in the "Applies to" section. When you do this, text may be truncated. This behavior may occur when any one of the following conditions is true: - The text is contained in the EMF+ or the EMF+ dual format drawing.
- The text contains wildcard characters. The following table contains examples of wildcard characters.
Wildcard character | Description | ( | Opening parenthesis | ) | Closing parenthesis | , | Comma | " | Quotation mark | @ | At sign |
- The text is at the end of a line of text.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior, use one of the following methods. Method 1: Print to a PCL printer When you print an EMF+ or an EMF+ dual format drawing from a custom program in one of the Office 2003 programs that are listed in the "Applies to" section, print to a PCL printer instead of to a PostScript printer. Method 2: Create an EMF-only format drawing Use the custom program to create an EMF-only format drawing instead of an EMF+ or an EMF+ dual format drawing. Then, print the EMF-only format drawing from one of the Office 2003 programs that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
