Links 2003: Error message: "Hole is tied" (912967)

SYMPTOMS

When you play Microsoft Links 2003, the game does not advance to the next week. This behavior occurs after you complete the 18th hole in an invitational tournament in a Season that you created by using the courses from Microsoft Links 2003 Championship Course Pack. Additionally, you may experience one of the following symptoms:
  • You receive the following error message:
    Hole is tied
  • The game stops responding (hangs) just after you complete the 18th hole.

WORKAROUND

To avoid this behavior, use one of the following methods.

Create Invitation Tournaments by using default Links 2003 courses

Use only the following default Links 2003 courses:
  • Cambrian Ridge
  • Kauri Cliff
  • Skeleton Coast
  • The Centenary Course at Gleneagles
  • The Ocean Course at Cabo del Sol
  • Tribute at the Otsego

Create seasons without Invitational Tournaments

You can play Championship courses and other courses and avoid Skin mode.

RESOLUTION

Download and install the latest update for Links 2003. To do this, visit the following Take-Two Interactive Software Web site: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. This contact information may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this third-party contact information.
If this behavior occurs after you install the latest update, withdraw from the Invitational Tournament. Then, continue with rest of the season.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in Links 2003 Championship Course Pack.

MORE INFORMATION

This issue occurs only with courses in Links 2003 Championship Course Pack and in Invitational Tournaments (Skin mode of play). This issue does not affect all the default seasons and courses available in Links 2003.
