You receive an error message in module Mspub.exe when you try to print to a PostScript printer or save a publication as a PostScript file in Publisher 2003 (912672)

SYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario. You work with a Microsoft Office Publisher 2003 publication that contains a linked picture. When you try to print the publication to a PostScript printer or to save the publication as a PostScript file, Publisher 2003 closes unexpectedly. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Microsoft Office Publisher has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
When you view the data in the error report, the report contains an error signature that is similar to the following error signature. Application name | Application version | Module name | Module version | Offset | Mspub.exe | 11.0.6127.0 | Mspub.exe | 11.0.6127.0 | varies |
CAUSEThis behavior may occur if one of the following conditions is true: - The linked picture is damaged.
- The link is invalid.
RESOLUTIONThis behavior was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2). For more information about how to obtain updates for Microsoft Office 2003, visit the following Microsoft Web site: WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior, change the linked picture to an embedded picture. To do this, follow these steps: - Open the publication in Publisher 2003.
- On the Tools menu, click Graphics Manager.
- In the Graphics Manager task pane, point to a picture, click the arrow next to the picture, and then click Convert to Embedded Picture.
- Repeat step 3 for each picture that is listed in the Graphics Manager task pane.
- Print or save the publication.
