Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft SQL Server 2005, when you try to run several queries on large data sets at the same time, you may receive the following error message:
701: There is insufficient system memory to run this query.
When you run the DBCC MEMORYSTATUS command, the following error messages are logged in the SQL Server error log:

Error message 1
Query Memory Objects: Next Request is a large value or at least significant percentage of available memory
Error message 2
MEMORYBROKER_FOR_RESERVE Allocations is approximately 50% or more of the size of Buffer Counts: Visible

CAUSE

This problem may occur when too much memory is reserved by the SQL Server Memory Broker.

RESOLUTION
