FIX: You receive error messages in the output file when you try to rebuild a SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services project by using the Devenv command-line tool in Visual Studio 2005 (912383)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, you try to rebuild a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services project by using the Devenv command-line tool. When you do this, you receive the following error messages in the output file:

Error message 1

Catastrophic failure (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8000FFFF (E_UNEXPECTED))

Error message 2

Invalid solution configuration
This problem occurs when you run the following command:

devenv.exe <AnalysisServices_SolutionName>.sln /Rebuild Release /Out output.log

This problem does not occur when you rebuild the Analysis Services project from the Visual Studio 2005 IDE.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information
