SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You use the Microsoft SCSIport miniport driver in Microsoft Windows Server 2003 together with a host bus adapter (HBA).
  • The HBA is connected to an Hewlett-Packard (HP) StorageWorks EVA8000 disk array.
  • The EVA8000 disk array is configured to expose one non-grouped Logical Unit Number (LUN) to the host.
  • A snapshot of the LUN is created. The snapshot makes the exposed LUN part of a Logical Unit (LU) group. Therefore, the exposed LUN starts to report the LU group ID in SCSI inquiry page 0x83.
  • On the host, you click Scan for hardware changes in Device Manager to force a rescan.
In this scenario, you may receive a Stop error message on a blue screen. The parameters in the Stop error message vary. However, if Driver Verifier Manager is enabled, you may receive a Stop 0xD6 error message that is similar to the following:
STOP 0x000000D6(parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4)
DRIVER_PAGE_FAULT_BEYOND_END_OF_ALLOCATION
Note The parameter values vary.
