A canceled meeting appointment reappears in your calendar in Outlook 2003 (912215)

SYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario. You receive a meeting cancellation for an occurrence of a recurring meeting in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. You open the meeting cancellation, and then click Remove from Calendar. The meeting appointment is removed from your calendar. However, when you view your calendar later, a new unexpected meeting appointment is scheduled for the canceled occurrence of the recurring meeting. The appointment time status is marked as Free. Additionally, the subject line of the appointment is Canceled: original subject name.CAUSEThis issue may occur if both the meeting recipient and the recipient's delegate process the meeting cancellation.WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, use one of the following methods. Method 1: Manually remove the extra appointmentTo manually remove the canceled meeting appointment, follow these steps: - Open your calendar in Outlook 2003.
- Right-click the appointment, and then click Delete.
- Click Delete this occurrence, and then click OK.
Method 2: Reset the delegate's options To prevent the delegate from receiving meeting-related messages, follow these steps: - Start Outlook 2003.
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Delegates tab.
- Click the delegate's name, and then click Permissions.
- Click to clear the Delegate receives copies of meeting-related messages sent to me check box.
- Click OK to close the Delegate Permissions dialog box.
- Click OK to close the Options dialog box.
