INTRODUCTION

Issues that the update rollup fixes

This update rollup fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

When you validate a scorecard that contains a Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) expression for row members or for column members, you receive the following error message:
Specified cast is not valid
Consider the following scenario. You use a language version of Business Scorecard Manager Builder that uses a comma as a decimal separator, or you change the decimal separator to a comma in the English version of Business Scorecard Manager Builder. When you deploy a scorecard after you add more columns to reporting services, the scorecard is not deployed. In this scenario, you also receive the following error message:
Could not connect to Reporting Services
Consider the following scenario. You have different scorecard views that contain hidden levels. When you deploy the views to the same page, the hidden levels in the views unexpectedly show.

New feature that is added by the update rollup

The scorecard view can be dynamic based on the page filter selection. The row members and column members are dynamic depending on the page filter.

To enable this new feature, create a moniker. In the Scorecard View editor, add the moniker to the row members or column members as follows:

<$[DimensionName]$>

You must also specify the same dimension name as the page filter.

When querying the row members and column members at run time, the code parses the MDX expression and searches for the specified moniker. If the moniker is found, and the dimension names of the page filter and the moniker are the same, the moniker is replaced by the selected member of the page filter. The following scenario is an example.

You have the following MDX expression for the row members in the Scorecard View editor.
```
<$[Store]$>.Children
```
The scorecard has a page filter that has the same dimension name.
```
[Store]
```
You select the following page filter in the Web part.
```
[Store].[USA].[WA] 
```
You download the dynamic scorecard .bsw file to view how the new functionality is used.

In this example, the code parses the MDX expression and determines whether the dimension name of the moniker is same as the dimension name of the page filter. Because both the page filter and the moniker match, the moniker is replaced with the following selected member.

[Store].[USA].[WA]

The following members are displayed in the scorecard.

[Store].[USA].[WA].Children

You can install Update Rollup 3 on all original released versions of Business Scorecard Manager 2005 or on Business Scorecard Manager 2005 that has either Update Rollup 1 or Update Rollup 2 installed.

Note Update Rollup 3 is not supported on the pre-release version or the trial release version of Business Scorecard Manager 2005.
Update Rollup 3 contains two .msp files for each language. Both builder and server .msp files must be deployed together for the update rollup to work. Therefore, all the builder-targeted computers must install the builder .msp file. Additionally, all the server-targeted computers must install the server .msp file. If you deploy one .msp file without the other, unexpected results may occur.

Note This configuration is not a supported configuration.

Restart information

You may have to restart your computer after you apply this update rollup.

Note Both .msp files must be deployed to resolve the issues that are listed in the "Issues that the update rollup fixes" section. If only one .msp file is installed, the issues will not be resolved. Additionally, unexpected problems may occur.

The English version of this update rollup uses a Microsoft Windows Installer package to install the update rollup. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) in the following table. When you view the file information, the date is converted to local time.
