Error message in Small Business Accounting when you save a journal entry that is downloaded from ADP: "A journal entry with the assigned reference number already exists" (912025)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006
- Microsoft Office Small Business Management Edition 2006
SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting, when you save a journal entry that is downloaded from ADP, you may receive the following error message:
A journal entry with the assigned reference number already exists. CAUSEThe problem occurs because the selected pay run has already been downloaded and saved in Small Business Accounting. Each pay run has an assigned reference number that is hidden from the user. The reference number prevents the pay run from being saved multiple times.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, void the original pay run so that you can save the downloaded pay run. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Company menu, point to Company Lists, and then click Journal Entries.
- Right-click the journal entry that is associated with the original pay run, and then click Void.
- If you are prompted with the question of whether you want to void the transaction, click Yes.
