SYMPTOMS

You use Removable Storage to prepare new blank tape media on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1)-based computer. Thereafter, when you reinsert the tape media into the tape drive, the Backup program does not correctly identify the tape media. Additionally, the Removable Storage database includes an extra entry for the tape media.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Removable Storage includes a corrupted Microsoft Tape Format (MTF) label in the blank tape media.
