SYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario. In a networked environment, Group Policy is configured to redirect the My Documents folder to a shared location. You save files in the My Documents folder. Then, an administrator changes the policy setting to redirect the My Documents folder to a different shared location. You then log on to a new computer. In this scenario, when you open the My Documents folder, the folder is empty. You do not see the files that you have saved in the My Documents folder.CAUSEThis issue occurs because the new computer has no local cache that records the path of the old shared location. Therefore, the documents in the old shared location are not moved.WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, manually copy the documents from the old shared location to the new shared location.MORE INFORMATIONThis issue can also occur if you reinstall a computer before the changed policy takes effect.
