CAUSE

This problem occurs because of an architectural limitation in Word Mobile. Word Mobile is included with Windows Mobile 5.0 software for Pocket PCs. Typically, this problem occurs when a document contains complex content. For example, this problem may occur when one of the following conditions is true:
  • A document contains many tables.
  • A document contains one table that has many rows and columns.
  • A document contains many list elements.
  • A document contains many paragraph changes or format changes.
A document that contains complex content uses lots of random access memory (RAM). This may cause the Windows Mobile-based device to run out of memory.

MORE INFORMATION

Typically, the document opens as expected on a Windows Mobile-based device by using Word Mobile. In certain situations, other applications that are running on the Windows Mobile-based device when Word Mobile is trying to open the document may close in order to free enough program memory to open the document. You may receive the Out-Of-Memory dialog box that has the following message: The available program memory is critically low. Please close one of the following applications. If Word Mobile cannot open the document, you receive the following message: A problem with the document was encountered it cannot be opened.
