Error message when you install Microsoft Dynamics CRM Service Provider Edition: "Action Microsoft.CRM.Setup.Server.CopyReportServerVirtualDirAction failed. Exception from HRESULT: 0x80005006" (911351)

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 Professional Edition for Service Providers, the Setup program tries to connect to an existing server that is running SQL Server Reporting Services. When this occurs, you receive the following error message:
Action Microsoft.CRM.Setup.Server.CopyReportServerVirtualDirAction failed. Exception from HRESULT: 0x80005006.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Microsoft Dynamics CRM Professional Edition for Service Providers requires that SQL Server Reporting Services be installed on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server. Microsoft Dynamics CRM Professional Edition for Service Providers cannot connect to an existing SQL Server Reporting Services installation that resides on a server that is not the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, disconnect the existing SQL Server Reporting Services installation before you install Microsoft Dynamics CRM Professional Edition for Service Providers.
