FIX: The Host Integration Server 2004 Management Pack may not return the correct status for Host Integration Server objects (911206)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004

SYMPTOMS

The following problems may occur when you use the Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004 Management Pack for Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 to monitor servers that are running Host Integration Server 2004:
  • The Host Integration Server 2004 Management Pack may not return the correct status for Host Integration Server objects such as host connections and host sessions.
  • The Host Integration Server 2004 Management Pack indicates that the Host Integration Server TCP/IP Resync service (DRDAResync.exe) is in a green (started) state even after the service has been stopped. This problem occurs because the Host Integration Server TCP/IP Resync service does not log the following event when the service is stopping: Event ID: 10014
    Source: HIS TCP/IP Resync
Description: The HIS TCP/IP Resync service has stopped.

The state monitoring features for the HIS TCP/IP Resync Service in the Host Integration Server 2004 Management Pack are based on the events logged by the service. If the Event 10014 is not logged, the management pack is not aware that the service has stopped.
  • The Host Integration Server 2004 Management Pack or the Performance Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in may stop responding when you try to add the performance monitor counters to monitor a remote server that is running Host Integration Server 2004. When this problem occurs, the following event may be logged: Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: Microsoft Operations Manager
    Event Category: MOM Agent
    Event ID: 21286
    Date: Date
    Time: Time
    User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
    Computer: Computer Name
    Description:
The Agent for management group "Management Group" could not stop the responses. The Agent will force the responses executing in the MOM host process to terminate. For more information about this problem, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  • The Host Integration Server 2004 Management Pack may not reflect the correct role of a backup Host Integration Server 2004 server that is promoted to operate as the primary Host Integration Server 2004 server.
  • SNA Manager may open in "View Only" mode after restarting a backup Host Integration Server 2004 server that is running the Host Integration Server 2004 Management Pack
  • Host Integration Server 2004 Management Pack service discovery fails after adding Local and Remote APPC LUs that are configured by using SyncPoint support.
  • The Microsoft Operations Manager service may not start after a Host Integration Server 2004 server is restarted. Any Host Integration Server 2004 Management Pack scripts that are configured to monitor this server will also not run when this problem occurs.
  • WMI queries that are issued against a backup Host Integration Server 2004 server may not finish for a several minutes.
  • SNA Manager does not open the Host Integration Server configuration on a backup Host Integration Server 2004 server after a WMI query has been executed against the backup Host Integration Server 2004 server.
