You receive an "Error occurred while backing up the empty database" error message when you try to load Microsoft CRM sample data (910941)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to load Microsoft CRM sample data, you receive the following error message:
Error occurred while backing up the empty database.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Dynamics CRM are not installed on the same computer. In this configuration, the Microsoft CRM Sample Data Wizard cannot automatically perform the database backup.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, create a folder on drive C on the computer that is running SQL Server. Name the folder "Backup." The C:\Backup folder will be used by the Sample Data Wizard to store the database backup that the wizard produces as part of the sample database installation.
