You receive a message that states that the toolbar is unavailable when you try to run the Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar in Office XP and in Office 2000 (910818)

Additionally, this message prompts you to create a new toolbar or to point to a folder.
Note To run the Office Shortcut Bar from the Start menu, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Office Tools, and then click Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar.WORKAROUNDWarning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk. Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
To work around this issue, follow these steps: - Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
- In the Currently installed programs list, click Microsoft Office XP, and then click Change.
- Click Add or Remove Features, and then click Next.
- Expand Office Tools.
- Click the icon that is next to Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar, and then click Not Available.
- Click Update.
- Click OK when you receive the following message: Microsoft Office Setup has successfully updated your installation.
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
- Locate and then select one of the following registry keys, depending on your installation of Microsoft Office:
Office XPHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Shortcut Bar Office 2000HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Shortcut Bar - Right-click Shortcut Bar, and then click Delete.
- Click Yes to the following message: Are you sure you want to delete this key and all of its subkeys?
- On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.
- In Microsoft Windows Explorer, locate and then select the following folder:
drive:\Documents and Settings\username\Application
Data\Microsoft\Office\Shortcut Bar Note The drive placeholder is the hard disk drive on which Office is installed. The username placeholder is the user name that you use to log on to the computer. - Right-click the Shortcut Bar folder, and then click Delete.
- Click Yes when you receive the following message: Are you sure you want to remove the folder 'Shortcut Bar' and move all its contents to the Recycle Bin?
- If the Add or Remove Programs dialog box is not open, click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
- In the Currently installed programs list, click Microsoft Office XP, and then click Change.
- Click Add or Remove Features, and then click Next.
- Expand Office Tools.
- Click the icon that is next to Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar, click Run all from My Computer, and then click Update.
- Click OK when you receive the following message: Microsoft Office Setup has successfully updated your installation.
