You receive error 1128 when you install Windows Live OneCare (910653)

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Windows Live OneCare, you receive error 1128. This error prevents the successful installation of Windows Live OneCare.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if an ActiveX control file is corrupted.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, delete the Windows Live OneCare Installation ActiveX control file. To do this follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then press ENTER.
  2. At the command prompt, type the following command:

    CD Drive%windir%\system32

    Note %windir% is the folder where Windows is installed. By default, Windows is installed in the C:\Windows folder. Drive is the drive where Windows is installed.
  3. At the Drive%windir%\system32 prompt, type regsvr32 /u winsswebagent.dll, and then press ENTER.
  4. Click OK to close the message that states that the Winsswebagent.dll file was unregistered successfully.
  5. At the path%windir%\system32 prompt, type del winsswebagent.dll, and then press ENTER.
  6. Close the Command Prompt window.
  7. Install Windows Live OneCare.
