INTRODUCTION

The Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) engine is a component of the Microsoft Solution Accelerator for Business Desktop Deployment.

The ZTP Workspace is a community of Microsoft Services, Partners, and customers who are using the ZTP engine. Microsoft posts updates for the ZTP engine to the ZTP Workspace approximately every other month. Microsoft also helps customers and partners use the ZTP engine through message posts in the ZTP Workspace.

MORE INFORMATION

The ZTP engine is a collection of services that helps you reduce administrative costs by letting users self-subscribe to services and to software. You can deliver these services and software to users through minimal human interaction. This level of automation reduces administrative overhead and reduces the risk of human-introduced errors. You can use the ZTP engine to develop a self-provisioning framework that you can use to provide additional services.

Some samples that are included with the ZTP engine are the following:
  • Password Reset
  • Add and Remove Users from Security Groups
  • Add and Remove Users from Distribution Lists
  • Subscribe to and Remove a Published Application
  • Upgrade the User's Computer to Microsoft Windows XP
For more information about the ZTP engine, see the Zero Touch Provisioning Feature Team Guide that is included with the Microsoft Solution Accelerator for Business Desktop Deployment Enterprise Edition.
