Error message when you try to install Application Center 2000 on a server that has SQL Server 2000 SP4 installed: "Error 25006" (910307)

SYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario. You have a server that has Microsoft SQL Server 2000 SP4 installed. You try to install Microsoft Application Center 2000 on the same server. In this scenario, you receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Error 25006. An error occurred while performing the task. Error executing OSQL tools for 'c:\Program Files\Microsoft application Center\logdb.sql'. 0x00000003 - The system cannot find the path specified.
CAUSEThis problem occurs because the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE) Service Pack 3a Setup program that is included with Application Center 2000 corrupts a registry key when SQL Server 2000 SP4 is installed.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem and install Application Center 2000, follow these steps: - Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- In Registry Editor, change the value of the SQLPATH parameter of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\ClientSetup registry key to the following:
SQLPath"="C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools1 - Close Registry Editor.
- Install Application Center 2000.
