Assemblies may be removed from the global assembly cache when you deploy BizTalk Server assemblies by using Application Center 2000 on a server that is not running BizTalk Server 2004 (910297)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Developer Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Partner Edition

SUMMARY

Consider the following scenario:
  • A source server is not running Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004.
  • The source server is running Microsoft Application Center 2000.
  • A target server is running BizTalk Server 2004.
  • You use Application Center 2000 on the source server to deploy BizTalk Server 2004 assemblies to the target server.
In this scenario, one or more assemblies may be removed from the global assembly cache on the target server.

MORE INFORMATION

When you use Application Center 2000 to deploy BizTalk Server assemblies from a source server that is not running BizTalk Server 2004 to a target server that is running BizTalk Server 2004, one or more of the following assemblies may be removed from the target server:
  • Microsoft.XLANGs.BizTalk.Engine.dll
  • Microsoft.XLANGs.BaseTypes.dll
  • Microsoft.XLANGs.RuntimeTypes.dll
  • Microsoft.BizTalk.GlobalPropertySchemas.dll
  • Any assembly that is referenced in the deployed assembly
When you use Application Center 2000 to deploy BizTalk Server assemblies, Application Center 2000 determines the assemblies that are referenced in the deployed assemblies. If the referenced assemblies do not exist in the global assembly cache on the source server, Application Center 2000 removes those assemblies from the global assembly cache on the target server.
