- SharePoint Portal Server 2003 runs the GetHostByAddr function to perform the lookup of the NetBIOS name of the host. The lookup is performed for each item in the content sources that are being crawled.
RESOLUTIONHow to obtain the hotfixThis issue is fixed in the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 post-Service Pack 2 Hotfix Package that is dated June 16, 2005. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk. To enable this hotfix, follow these steps: - Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\SPSSearch\Gathering Manager - On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type IgnoreWSSLocalGroups, and then press ENTER.
- Right-click IgnoreWSSLocalGroups, and then click Modify.
- In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
- On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.
