INTRODUCTION

This hotfix will update your spelling checker, thesaurus, grammar checker, and specialized dictionaries to the latest Dutch spellings. On October 15, 2005, the new edition of the Woordenlijst Nederlandse Taal (Wordlist of the Dutch Language), which describes the official spelling guidelines for the Dutch language, was released by the Dutch Language Union. Compared to the last edition (1995), the number of changes in this edition are limited. For example, there are no longer any exceptions to the linking "n" rules. Additionally, word-level changes were made to increase the spelling conformity among words. These include, among others, the use of capitalization for peoples and nations, the spelling of diminutives, and the spelling of English compounds.

The Nederlandse Taalunie (Dutch Language Union) hereby declares that the Dutch spelling checker that was developed by Polderland Language & Speech Technology follows the rules and principles of the official Dutch spelling as defined by the Nederlandse Taalunie. Upon evaluation, no deviations to the official spelling were found.
