You may not be able to log flight time when you come out of a flight session in Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight (910220)

SYMPTOMS

When you finish and come out of a flight session in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight, you may receive the following error message:
You have chosen to log flight time but the logbook file <path> does not exist. You will not be able to log flight time until you recreate the flight time logging file or select a new flight time logging file in the logbook dialog.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the default game settings have changed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, reset the logbook file or reset the default game settings.

Reset the logbook file

  1. Click Start, click Run, type %appdata%\Microsoft\FS9 in the Open box to open the FS9 folder, and then click OK.
  2. In the FS9 folder, right-click fs9.CFG, and then click Open With.
  3. In the Open With dialog box, click Notepad, and then click OK.
  4. On the Edit menu, click Find.
  5. In the Find what box, type LOG_FILE=, and then click Find Next.
  6. Click Cancel.
  7. Remove any text to the right of the following text, and then type LOGBOOK:

    equal (=) in LOG_FILE=

    When you are finished the line will appear as: LOG_FILE=LOGBOOK.
  8. On the File menu, click Save.
  9. On the File menu, click Exit.
If you still experience the issue, reset the default game settings.

Reset the default game settings

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, and then point to Microsoft Games.
  2. Point to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, point to Troubleshooting, and then click Reset Defaults.
