- the operating system: Microsoft Windows 3.0
- Microsoft Works 2.0
- Microsoft Works 2.0a
This article was previously published under Q91082 SUMMARY
For the Dial This Number command to function in Microsoft Works for
Windows, you must have a Hayes-compatible modem on either COM1 or on
COM2. Also, Works for Windows must be set to the correct COM port.
MORE INFORMATION
To check this setting, choose Works Settings from the Options menu and
make sure the appropriate COM port is selected.
A way to troubleshoot this function is to try the Autodial function
from the Windows Cardfile application. If this does not work, then
there may be a problem with the configuration or compatibility of the
modem, or a conflict with another hardware device.
