MORE INFORMATION

Not all game modes are available in all Xbox games. Typically, you can select from the following types of game modes:
  • Single player, story mode, or campaign mode
You can start a story mode or a new campaign or resume an existing campaign.

Note Your progress in a single-player game is automatically saved to the profile that you create. If you have not yet created a player profile, you may have to create a profile before you can make this selection.

  • Multiplayer
Many games support multiplayer functionality. You can select split screen, system link, or Xbox Live to compete with other players or to play a cooperative campaign.
    • Split screen
With split screen play, you can compete with up to three other players side by side on a single console.

Note In some Xbox games, two-player split screen modes can switch the game screen between the Vertical (left/tight) option and the Horizontal (top/down) option when you change the video settings in the Xbox Dashboard from Wide Screen to Normal.

With system link play, you can connect two Xbox consoles with an Xbox System Link Cable. With some games, you can connect up to 16 Xbox consoles when you use an Ethernet hub. You can use the following combinations for a 16-player game when you use an Ethernet hub:
      • 16 players using 16 consoles
With this combination, 1 player can play on each console.
      • 16 players using 8 consoles
With this combination, 2 players can play on each console.
      • 16 players using 4 consoles
With this combination, 4 players can play on each console.

With this combination, 1 player can play on each console.
