After you delete a SharePoint Portal Server Web site, the Web site still appears in the Gatherer log file (909505)

SYMPTOMS

After you delete a Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server Web site, the Web site still appears in the Gatherer log file. Additionally, the following error is logged in the Gatherer log file:
The address could not be found, ( 0x80041201 - The Object was not found )

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, follow these steps:
  1. On the Home page, click Site Settings.
  2. In the Search Settings and Indexed Content section, click Manage Crawls of site directory.
  3. In the left pane, click Approved Sites under Crawl status of sites.
  4. Click to select the check box that is next to the name of the Web site that you deleted, and then click Delete.
  5. Perform a full update of the portal content source and of the non-portal content source:
    1. On the Site Settings page, click Configure search and indexing in the Search Settings and Indexed Content section.
    2. In the Other Content Sources section, click Manage content sources.
    3. Rest the pointer on the name of the content source, and then click the arrow that appears.
    4. Click Start Full Update.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
