The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Xbox 360
  • Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter
  • Xbox Video Game System

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use a USB extension to connect an Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter to your Xbox 360 console, the wireless signal strength is reduced.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the USB extension cable interferes with the designed functionality of the Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter. The Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter is designed to optimally perform when it is connected directly to the USB port on the Xbox 360 console.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. If you notice signal strength or network latency issues when you use a USB extension cable, try moving the wireless adapter further away from the Xbox 360 console, or plug the adapter directly into the rear USB port.
