When you press the power button to put a Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005-based computer in Away mode, a CD or a DVD does not stop playing (909312)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
SYMPTOMSWhen you insert a CD or a DVD into an optical drive on a Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005-based computer, AutoPlay plays the disc. For example, if you insert an audio CD or DVD into the drive, music starts to play. However, if you then press the power button to put the computer in Away mode, the CD or the DVD does not stop playing.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if the following conditions are true: - Media Center is running in windowed mode.
- You insert a CD or DVD that contains media.
- AutoPlay is configured to play the media.
If these conditions are true, AutoPlay uses the appropriate program to play the media. However, the program may run outside the Media Center shell. Away mode is only designed to control processes in the Media Center shell. Therefore, when you press the power button to enter Away mode, Away mode cannot stop the media from playing.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
