Xbox 360: You receive the "Limited Network Connection" error message (909167)

SYMPTOMSWhen you try to connect an Xbox 360 console to a Microsoft Windows XP Media Center-based computer, you receive the following error message:
Limited Network Connection
Your console didn't obtain an IP address from your DHCP server. An IP address is usually required for your console to contact your PC with Windows Media Center. Check your network connection in Network Settings.

[X- Cancel] CAUSEThis issue occurs when the Xbox 360 console does not receive an IP address from a DHCP server. Note The Xbox 360 console is set up to obtain an IP address from a DHCP server. THINGS TO TRY- Verify that the network settings for the Xbox 360 console are correct for your home network. To access the network settings on the Xbox 360 console, follow these steps:
- From the Xbox Dashboard, move to the System section.
- Select Network Settings.
- Select Edit Settings. You can view the network settings on the Edit Settings screen in the Xbox Dashboard.
- If you use a router or a gateway device, make sure that the router or the gateway device has DHCP enabled. For more information about how to enable DHCP in the router or gateway device, see the manual for the device or contact the manufacturer of the device.
