Xbox 360: You receive the "No Network Connection" error message (909166)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to connect an Xbox 360 console to a Microsoft Windows XP Media Center-based computer by using a network connection, you receive the following error message:
No Network Connection

Your console is not connected to your network. Please make sure your Ethernet cable is connected to your console or that you have configured your console to connect to your wireless network.

CAUSE

Typically, this behavior occurs if the Xbox 360 console does not detected a wired or a wireless connection.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Verify that the Windows XP Media Center-based computer and the Xbox 360 console are connected to the same network.
  2. Make sure that you turn on the computer and the console.

  1. On the Xbox 360 Dashboard, move to the System section.
