Xbox 360: You cannot view pictures from a camera or a portable device on the Xbox 360 console (909153)

SYMPTOMS

When you connect a camera or a portable device to the Xbox 360 console, you can access the device but you cannot access the files on the device. A red circle with a line through the circle may appear next to the device or next to the files on the device.

CAUSE

Typically, this behavior occurs when the files are not compatible with the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Visit the following Web site:

    http://www.xbox.com/media

    Click the viewing photos link to verify that the portable device is compatible with the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system.
  2. If the device is compatible, make sure that the files are in JPEG format. RAW files will not appear.
  3. If files are compatible with the console but the files still do not appear, try a different USB port on the console.
  4. If files are compatible with the console but the files still do not appear, try another 360 console.
  5. Contact device manufacturer for more help.
  6. You may require Microsoft to repair the console. Contact Xbox support.
