An AVI movie file that you copy from an Excel for Mac worksheet or from a PowerPoint for Mac presentation appears as a picture when you paste the AVI file into a Word 2004 for Mac document (909035)

SYMPTOMSYou copy an Audio Video Interleaved (AVI) movie file from a Microsoft Excel for Mac worksheet or from a Microsoft PowerPoint for Mac presentation. When you paste the AVI file into a Microsoft Word 2004 for Mac document, the AVI file appears as a picture. You cannot play the AVI file as a movie.
This problem does not occur if you copy an AVI file from a Word 2004 for Mac document and then paste the AVI file into an Excel for Mac worksheet or into a PowerPoint for Mac presentation.CAUSEThis problem occurs because the default clipboard format in Word 2004 for Mac is the Escher Shape clipboard format.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, use the Paste Special command to paste the AVI file into a Word 2004 for Mac document. To do this, follow these steps: - Copy the AVI file from an Excel for Mac worksheet or from a PowerPoint for Mac presentation.
- Start Word 2004 for Mac. Then, open the document into which you want to paste the AVI file.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste Special.
- In the Paste Special dialog box, click Paste, click QuickTime Movie, and then click OK.
