You receive an error message and the digital signature is lost when you share a digitally signed workbook in Excel 2003 (909026)

SYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario: - You share a digitally signed workbook in Microsoft Office Excel 2003.
- The content of the workbook is saved by the AutoRecover feature.
- The private key is not installed on the computer.
In this scenario, you receive an error message that is similar to the following: You have modified a signed project. You do not have the correct key to sign this project. The signature will be discarded. After you receive the error message, the digital signature is lost. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, use one of the following methods: - Do not use a digital signature for the workbook.
- Turn off the AutoRecover feature. To do this, follow these steps:
- Start Excel 2003.
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Save tab, click to select the Disable AutoRecover check box, and then click OK.
