The same DVB-T service is assigned multiple channel numbers in the Program Guide in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (908997)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
SYMPTOMS
When you select Start Scan to scan for broadcasts in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, the same Terrestrial Digital Video Broadcast (DVB-T) service may be detected multiple times. Each of these duplicate detected services is assigned a channel number in the Media Center Program Guide.
CAUSEWhen Media Center scans for broadcasts, it scans the allowed frequency range from the lowest frequency to the highest frequency. Sometimes, Media Center may find the same broadcast on multiple frequencies. In this case, Media Center cannot determine whether the broadcasts are the same.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, remove the channels that use the same broadcast from the Program Guide. To do this, follow these steps: - Start Media Center, and then select Settings.
- Select TV.
- Select Guide.
- Select Edit Channels.
- Scroll down to find the listing for the channel that you want to remove.
- Clear the channel that you do not want in the Program Guide.
- Select Save.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
