You may receive a "Scanning 100% done (0 service(s) found)" message when you scan for services in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (908996)

SYMPTOMS
When you select Start Scan to scan for services in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, you may receive a message that is similar to the following:
Scanning 100% done (0 service(s) found)
Note The Scan for Services page is available only on Media Center computers that are set up to receive a PAL, SECAM, or DVB-T signal.CAUSE
This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:
- The computer is using a TV tuner device or card that supports world-wide television standards.
- One of the following conditions is true:
- You select Start Scan to scan for services during the Out of Box Experience (OOBE) setup.
- You select Start Scan to scan for services after you switch from a region that supports NTSC signals to a region that supports SECAM, PAL, or DVB-T signals.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, follow these steps:
- Click Finish in the OOBE setup, if applicable.
- Restart the computer.
- Start Media Center, and then select Settings.
- Select TV.
- Select Scan for services.
Media Center should now detect the available services.
